Mar. 24th, 2025 09:27 amFinally, finally, heard from the apartment management about renewing our lease. I've been trying to get them to send us the paperwork for months now (we're supposed to renew no later than 60 days of our lease ending), and our lease is up on the 24th (today). Ridiculous. They're only raising the rent $50 this time around, which won't dent our savings plan much at all, so all is well and I can stop stressing about this. I can't wait to never have a landlord again.
Also finally signed up for a new energy provider over the weekend. Hopefully we'll see our bills drop a little.
Much adulting. Very grown. Wow.
Carolina got her vaccination shots Saturday morning. They're first come/first serve on Saturdays at the vet, and are only open until noon, so M had plans to get up early to be there when they opened at 8. Except that we forgot to take the pet carrier out of the office closet before putting the baby to bed, and there was no way we were going to wake her up when she's happily sleeping late, so we ended up with a slow, easy morning with lots of lounging and relaxing in bed, which was amazing. I got to sleep in for the first time in weeks!
Baby finally woke at 10 (!), M packed up Carolina, and they were finished in under an hour. Afterward, M went to Plano to visit friends, and I took it easy the rest of the day. The baby also decided to give me an easy day, so I had long stretches to myself while she napped, which was glorious. I finished the last of my Elizabethan chains, and now I just need to do a few little finishing things. I ended up with four different chains - garnet/gold, emerald/enameled flowers, gold/enameled flowers, and gold/parti-colored. The gold/enameled flowers one looks nearly identical to one from the Cheapside Hoard, which pleased me greatly. I will have pics soon.
M did a run to Sam's to pick up some staples on Sunday, ended up shopping while hungry, and came back with many treats. He bought me a wheel of brie and a large box of Ferrero Rocher, and bought himself many varieties of chips and a pack of prosciutto. There was also an abundance of fruit, which was very exciting. I made chicken fried rice for dinner from a Sam's rotisserie chicken, and had it with a pack of pork bao from their sushi section. It was a very good dinner.
Goal for this week is to dig out the red pair of bodies, see where I left off, and hopefully get restarted on them. I realized that I don't have to wear something Victorian to the Red Tea in May even if most people do, which gave me some extra umph to finish my petticoat bodies and red embroidered waistcoat. But first I need stays!
