This weekend felt overly short, but I still managed to get some work done on the Monet outfit. I've completely changed gears at this point, as there's less than a month to go and I haven't gotten any work done on the original dress at all. So, I started to bang out a quick shirtwaist last night, and managed to get the mockup draped before bedtime. There are tucks at the shoulders to give it fullness in the body, but otherwise it's a fairly simple and quick design.

The shirtwaist idea came about because while we were moving, I rediscovered an old Lolita dress that I had made from a Battenberg lace tablecloth. I had spilled a huge cup of soda on it the first time I wore it, and essential ruined it. Womp womp. I kept it anyway because I loved the lace, and now it's finally getting used for the shirtwaist!

I cut out some of the lace designs to use as inserts on the front, so once I get final linen version cut out, I can start adding the lace. I'm feeling really good about how it's coming together. Now I just need to figure out what skirt I'm going to make with it. I want to save the aqua taffeta for something bigger and flashier in the future, so I'm planning a expedition to the storage unit to see what I have on hand.

But hooray! Actual progress!
