While digging through the storage unit, I also found my 1890s cotton eyelet petticoat, my Victorian chemise, and my lacy teens chemise! Hooray! With the new brown taffeta petticoat and the cotton petticoat, I should have enough fluff to give me a decent 1890s silhouette.
I've started watching Vikings, and it's driving M nuts. lol He studied Medieval history in uni (though his focus was the crusades), and the historical inaccuracies are driving him bonkers. But, it means that we get to have long conversations about the real history, which we both love, so I'd say it's a win-win.
I've been thinking of joining our local SCA group, and may go to the populace meeting tonight. My biggest hesitation is that, despite it being a "local" group, all their meetings are at least 30 minutes away (in good traffic). The closer, smaller group was absorbed by the larger Barony a few years ago, so they don't have their own independent meetings anymore. :-/ I'm sort of in this weird donut hole between the "Fort Worth" group (which operates on the east side of town, and I'm in the west, which doesn't seem like a big deal except that there's about 30-45 minutes of driving between the two sides of town) and the western group in Stephenville, which is 1 1/2 hours away. Ugh. The enormity of our metroplex is really annoying sometimes.
