Petticoat progress

I'm finally managing to get some decent work done on the indienne sacque now that I'm working with a fabric I'm actually excited about. I cut out all the pieces for the petticoat on Tuesday night, and I took them with me to work yesterday. I managed to hem the front panel, assemble all the strips for the ruching, and prep the waistbands. Once I got home, I serged all the edges of the ruching strips (this fabric frays like crazy), gathered them up, and stitched down the first strip by hand. And it's so pretty!

I have to wait until the trim comes in before I can add the rest of the flouf to the petticoat, so that's sitting on the mannequin for now. I'll probably pattern out the lining for the bodice today so I can work on that tonight, but I may switch gears and pattern out M's waistcoat instead. I feel like I haven't given his wardrobe enough attention, and he desperately needs new things.

Anyway, I also bought a new pair of Ugly Shoes off eBay to turn into 18thC footie goodness.

They're sooo ugly. Even M was like, "Oh, you bought another pair of...UGLY shoes! Wow, these are terrible." lol That heel shape, though, is fabulous. It's hard to believe these shoes were almost $200 when they were brand new. If anyone loves Ferragamo shoes, you should probably look away while I butcher these. XD
