Sewing was delayed last night because I wanted to finish the last few episodes of Moon Knight, which was great. I had three episodes to finish, by which time it was already around 8, so I did what I could, which was mainly sewing up the seams and prepping them for flat felling, and attaching the front button placket. The thread I have isn't quite a perfect match to the fabric, so I didn't want to top stitch it with what I have on hand, and that was the end of the night.
I'm hoping to get the crinoline finished tonight and to start on the petticoat. I'm planning to size up the 1876 corset pattern that I have while I'm at work today, and hopefully do a mockup sometime this week. I really, really hope this corset goes together smoothly, and is not another 1906 corset nightmare.
If I can finish the petticoat before the weekend, which is entirely possible, I may start on the skirt for the natural form dress I have planned, namely this lovely froof monster.
I already have the taffeta for the skirt base in my Stash, so I could conceivably get that done this weekend and start on the ruffles next week. I'll continue to work on the corset and hopefully get it done quickly so I can drape the bodice.
Deadlines definitely spur my productivity! I'm trying to get this done for a shindig on June 5th, so I need to keep up a steady pace to get it all done in time. One week for undies, one week for the skirt, and one week for the bodice and finishing - should be enough, right? The Memorial Day three-day weekend should also help, and since the picnic is on a Sunday, I'll actually have Saturday to sew if needed. I think I can do it!
