Resized the 1906 corset pattern again, while I was at work yesterday, taking 2 inches from the bust and waist, and taking 2 inches off everything for the lacing gap. I really hope these are the last adjustments that I need, because I'm tired of looking at it! Actual mockups and whatnot will have to wait until after the Natural Form project at this point, because that has a hard deadline.

Did not finish the crinoline last night because I ran out of the bias tape I was using for facing. -_- I'm so close! I could have used some fabric scraps, but I want it all to match inside. I have a few more edges to finish off, boning to add, and the waistband, and it will be done. This hoop has taken way longer than I anticipated, and I'm definitely worried about getting the gown done in time. It's not a huge deal if I don't, since I have the lingerie dress as backup, but I really want something new!

But honestly, if I just end up with a new set of undies that are ready to build future dresses onto, then I'll be happy with that.

An apartment complex a mile down the road burned down last night. Mackenzie saw the smoke when he was driving home last night and called to make sure everything was alright.  It wasn't near enough to us to cause us a problem, thankfully.

Stopped at the fabric store after work for provisions to finish the crinoline. Two packs of buttons, a 3-yard roll of twill tape, a roll of elastic, and some hooks and eyes cost me $30. Ugh. This has never been a cheap hobby, but damn.

Came home and made tacos. While I chopped toppings, M told me the CEO of Capital One announced that everyone will be required to go back to the office in September, which has, expectedly, caused much unhappiness across the company. M's entire department was hired on with the promise that they would be remote (literally all but 2 of them were hired in the last 8 months, and those two are fully remote from Louisiana). The president of their division, thankfully, had a talk with the CEO, and their department was given the okay to stay remote indefinitely. But not before M spent 20 minutes talking about having to find a new job (the campus is a 2-hour drive from us, so there's no way we could have made it work) and me thinking about how this would seriously mess up our lives. Thankfully, all is well, and our lives have not been blown up.

After the latest episode of Gentleman Jack, I finished flat felling all the crinoline seams, sewed on the front opening placket, and started adding boning channels. But, I'd had a late start again, so that was all I managed before it was 10:30 and I had to call it a night. I feel like I could have pushed it and finished adding the rest of the boning channels (I made the mistake of having a soda with dinner, so I was pretty wired), but eh, it's fine, I guess. At this rate, the crinoline will still probably take tonight and tomorrow night to finish, which means the weekend will be 100% petticoat making time. I had hope to do the corset mockup this weekend, but that doesn't seem likely now.

What I may be able to do, though, is cut out the base to the skirt this weekend, and get that started. Realistically, the petticoat shouldn't take more than a day, so I could get started on the actual gown skirt on Sunday. Then the nights after work could be spent making ruffles.

Sewing was delayed last night because I wanted to finish the last few episodes of Moon Knight, which was great. I had three episodes to finish, by which time it was already around 8, so I did what I could, which was mainly sewing up the seams and prepping them for flat felling, and attaching the front button placket. The thread I have isn't quite a perfect match to the fabric, so I didn't want to top stitch it with what I have on hand, and that was the end of the night.

I'm hoping to get the crinoline finished tonight and to start on the petticoat. I'm planning to size up the 1876 corset pattern that I have while I'm at work today, and hopefully do a mockup sometime this week. I really, really hope this corset goes together smoothly, and is not another 1906 corset nightmare.

If I can finish the petticoat before the weekend, which is entirely possible, I may start on the skirt for the natural form dress I have planned, namely this lovely froof monster.

I already have the taffeta for the skirt base in my Stash, so I could conceivably get that done this weekend and start on the ruffles next week. I'll continue to work on the corset and hopefully get it done quickly so I can drape the bodice.

Deadlines definitely spur my productivity! I'm trying to get this done for a shindig on June 5th, so I need to keep up a steady pace to get it all done in time. One week for undies, one week for the skirt, and one week for the bodice and finishing - should be enough, right? The Memorial Day three-day weekend should also help, and since the picnic is on a Sunday, I'll actually have Saturday to sew if needed. I think I can do it!
