Went to Dallas on Saturday to hit the Perth Street fabric warehouses, and found so much pretty fabric. Fabrictopia is back open without having to have an appointment, so I went there first and found a really lovely purple striped taffeta. They had a bunch of pretty plaids, too, that I may go back for. At Wherehouse Fabrics, I found an absolutely stunning red floral striped brocade that is just *chef's kiss* perfect. I've set it aside for my next project, which will be using the Simplicity 3855 pattern to make my Christmas dress. I realized that I've made a red dress around Christmas-time for years now, so I might as well keep up the tradition.

Best Fabrics had tons and tons of stuff on sale, some really lovely brocades and taffetas for $6, but I ended up not actually buying any of them. Their sales don't end, once a fabric is on sale, it's on sale forever, so I didn't feel a pressing need to buy them just because they were cheap. At some point, I will go back and buy a dress length of each of them, though!

It was actually nice going on Halloween because the warehouses were pretty deserted. Everyone had already bought their costume fabrics, so I pretty much had the place to myself each time, and the few people that were there were all wearing masks! I know things will gear up as we get closer to Christmas again, but after the New Year it should be quiet again.

The twill tape for my bridal hoop rehab project arrived over the weekend, so that's going to be my next project. I think I have figured out the order of operations in my head, and if it goes the way I think it will, it should be a one-day project. I'll also need a new petticoat, but that should also go pretty quickly. Then I can get started on the Christmas dress! :D

ETA: Oh, I also managed to get all of the local costubers on board for the Victorian dinner! I heard from the last one over the weekend, and she's super excited as her channel is mostly about historical food. We hammered out a date after the holidays/school semester, and now we're all set! There will be six of us at dinner in total, which is great because all the recipes are for 8 people or more. XP

Also, finding Victorian recipes that don't call for something impossible to get anymore (mutton just does not exist in the states), or suddenly rare and expensive (seriously, why is pigeon so damned expensive?) or just expensive in general (beef tenderloin)  is harder than I thought. Also, the prices for capon are stupid. It's just a castrated male chicken, but for some reason that means a whole capon is worth $120 when a regular whole chicken is $6. Stupid.
