I've been stalled out on sewing projects, and I think it's because I keep overthinking things. I've been getting so caught up on doing things right the first time I do them that I end up never starting anything, and that's just stupid.

So, new plan for vacation time. Opera dress is in the naughty corner for now because I am absolutely not in a mood to work on Edwardian anything, and [personal profile] danabren absolved me of it. I'm also not going to worry about putting out a video for March. I'm just going to ride this Elizabethan wave while I have it. So, to that end I am shooting for:

- two shifts, one square necked and one high-necked. They do not have to be fancy, I can fancy them up later with some embroidery if I really want to, I just need them done for now.

- work on the red damask stays. They don't have to be finished, but I would like to at least get the boning channels into the other half of the stays.

- make the red petticoat. For some reason I have been really hung up on this, like this is the only red petticoat I'll ever be allowed to make and I have to get it perfect for every project I will ever make in the future and if I fail all my future projects will be ruined. I have no idea why this has been such A Thing. It's just a damned petticoat. I will make many, many petticoats in the future, this is just one of them, and it doesn't have to fit every outfit on my wishlist.

- prep the embroidered coif project. Since I didn't get it started while the Captain was away, this is now a slate frame project for home instead of a ring frame project for work, so I'm going to be dressing a slate frame for the first time. Exciting! I printed out the pattern for the matching forehead cloth, which I forgot to do before, and that will be worked on the same piece of linen.

I think I've finally figured out what to do with that batch of linen I bought for the loose kirtle lining that I never ended up using. Rereading Laura Mellin's website (I'm so glad this site still exists even though she stopped updating it 16 years ago) and seeing all her Elizabethan waistcoats set off a lightbulb. So, the black linen is now slated to be a plain waistcoat. At first I thought I would self-line it, but now I think I'll line it and trim it with pink. It will be a comfy thing to wear to informal SCA stuff, and it will be a sort of wearable mockup for when I finally make the waistcoat from the Truly Hats embroidered linen that I meant to make ages ago.
