Resized the 1906 corset pattern again, while I was at work yesterday, taking 2 inches from the bust and waist, and taking 2 inches off everything for the lacing gap. I really hope these are the last adjustments that I need, because I'm tired of looking at it! Actual mockups and whatnot will have to wait until after the Natural Form project at this point, because that has a hard deadline.

Did not finish the crinoline last night because I ran out of the bias tape I was using for facing. -_- I'm so close! I could have used some fabric scraps, but I want it all to match inside. I have a few more edges to finish off, boning to add, and the waistband, and it will be done. This hoop has taken way longer than I anticipated, and I'm definitely worried about getting the gown done in time. It's not a huge deal if I don't, since I have the lingerie dress as backup, but I really want something new!

But honestly, if I just end up with a new set of undies that are ready to build future dresses onto, then I'll be happy with that.

An apartment complex a mile down the road burned down last night. Mackenzie saw the smoke when he was driving home last night and called to make sure everything was alright.  It wasn't near enough to us to cause us a problem, thankfully.

Geico emailed me saying they noticed the address change, and that I should review my stuff. Hmm. Turns out, our new address means our insurance got cheaper by about $10/month. So, that's a win!

All of the billing information for all the places should be completely updated now. Hopefully there won't be any more surprises.

Tiger made a daring escape this morning when I left for work. He darted out the front door, quickly realized that crap, this is not the outdoors I am familiar with, and ran around trying to figure out where he was. I finally caught up to him on a neighbor's porch, where I scooped him up and threw him back in our apartment. Little shit.

Finished pinning on the boning channels for the 1906 corset mockup last night. Not a monumental achievement, but dammit, it's progress! I will stitch them on tonight and do a fitting and see how things look. It doesn't look drastically different from my last mockup, so if there aren't any major problems, then I'm finally going to move on to the final version. It will be really nice to finally have a corset finished! (Just realized I still have to order boning and a busk! Guess I won't be finishing it this weekend.)

The embroidery is stalling me out on the 1872 corset. I really want an embroidered corset again, I just don't actually want to do the embroidery. I'm sitting and watching TV so much at night that I should just have it beside me to work on then. If I'd been doing that this week instead of mindlessly scrolling my phone, I would have it all done by now. (And I wouldn't have to rewind the show a dozen times because I missed something important. XP) I am trying to get back into the habit of doing an hour of sewing every night, so next week I'll try and focus on the embroidery so I can finish up that corset the following weekend.

This weekend's plan is to get the final version of the 1906 corset cut out and assembled, and order the boning and busk. Sunday I am going to try and make the 1878 natural form hoops from the pattern I extracted from De Gracieuse. Skirt supports are usually pretty quick, so I should be able to finish them in a single day, fingers crossed.

Weekend was an excellent combo of productivity and laziness. I cut out the third mockup for the 1906 corset and got it assembled, but petered out halfway through adding all the boning channels. I'll probably try and get that done tonight, if I can muster up the enthusiasm for it.

Cleaned the kitchen and did some rearranging of pots and pans. We only have one cabinet for them, so space is at a premium. Thankfully, we have space under the oven this time, so all the baking sheets can go under there.

Speaking of baking sheets, I made the apparently monumental blunder of putting them in the dishwasher, because they came out super oxidized and discolored. I spent a good 30 minutes scrubbing the hell out of one of them and finally got it back to being bright and shiny again, but the other one is still tarnished. Meh. Apparently this is A Thing with aluminum baking sheets, and I just have to deal. -_-

Anyway, I made a big batch of adobo chicken for dinner on Saturday, about triple what I usually make for us, so I could use the leftovers to make lunches for the week.

Sunday was a mostly lazy day. I picked up a grocery order that I'd put in the night before (man, I love grocery pickup so much), unpacked everything, had a burger for lunch, and then sat back on the couch with a pile of cats and caught up on all the new episodes of stuff from the week.

When the evening rolled around, I put on a large pot of rice, made some chicken paprikash for dinner, and finished up the lunch boxes for the week by cooking up some peppers and onions, adding lime and cilantro to half the batch of rice, and chopping up the remaining chicken. It all got layered into some tupperware, topped with cheese, and ta-da, burrito bowls. We also have a large container of leftover paprikash, too, so we're set on food for several days now. Hooray!

I feel like the easiness of this weekend's meal prep may have been a fluke, and that it won't go as smoothly in the future, but it felt really good to be so on top of things.

Reprinted the 1906 corset pattern while at work yesterday, and sized it to my measurements. I took my measurements several times to double-check all my numbers, so hopefully it will be right this time, and I can get on with making the final version. I will attempt to cut out the mockup tonight, since I don't have any errands to run after work.

I did a pickup grocery order at the Walmart that's now closest to our place, and it went fine, except I didn't know they didn't have a drive-through pharmacy, so I had to go inside anyway and wait in line behind a zillion people. *grumble* I'll be switching back to the old pharmacy so I can sit my lazy ass in the car and have my pills vacuum-tubed to me, thank you very much.

Speaking of pills, my doctor's office left me a voicemail basically saying "yeah, we're only giving you a week of pills at a time so you'll get the hint and come in for blood work, it's been 6 months." Guess I'll have to make an appointment.

Woke up to find the corset mockup once again liberated from the project basket and dragged across the living room. Silly goober. Tiger was very insistent on snuggles this morning, because he is clearly deprived and neglected. He helped me make the bed by biting the corner of the sheet and rabbit-kicking the comforter.

The gumbo did not happen this weekend. M failed to realize that any duck we would be able to get at this time of year would be frozen, so it's been defrosting in the fridge. He also didn't realize that a duck is not a small bird, and that we can't cram 7 pounds of duck meat, plus four pounds of alligator sausage, into a single gumbo. So, tonight we have roast duck, tomorrow gumbo!

Second mockup of the 1906 corset still had some problems in the hip area, and was still mysteriously too big. I think it's my own fault for eyeballing the seam allowances on the first mockup, but carefully measuring them out on the second. The plan now is to cut them out with a 1/2" seam allowance, but sew them together with a 5/8" allowance, which should take care of it. I also added in too much room at the hip, so I trimmed that down a bit.

Once the mockup was figured out, I went ahead and dyed the coutil to a nice light blue. I plan to have black boning channels and matching blue flossing. Should be pretty.

I also finally transferred the embroidery pattern onto the gussets for the 1872 corset, which I will work on while I wait for the steel bones and busk to arrive in the mail.

This gorgeous Victorian mourning style brooch popped up in my Facebook ads, and I bought it.

I also bought some of this gorgeous teal wool twill, for an 1899 walking suit.

Once the 1906 corset is finished, I need to whip something together for Faire. Not sure I can get an entire court gown done by May 15th, when my group plans to go, but I should be able to whip up something by then, right?

We finally, *finally* got the approval notice from the new apartment complex! Move in date is hopefully the 23rd (we have yet to hear back on that), so we'll have less time to pack than we originally thought, but eh, it's all fine. We're just waiting on details now on when to go over and sign the lease and all that. We're on our way out! Hooray!

Sent a pic of the first corset fitting to Liz to get her input, and she said that it looked big. I didn't feel like it was big when I tried it on, but then it was in my head once she said it, so I did another try on, and surprise! It's too big. Once I really paid attention and laced it properly, I could get it completely closed. I'll have to hack another quarter inch or so off each pattern piece. I'm also going to take a half inch off the top edge, since it sticks up a bit far. I like where the waist sits right now, and how the torso fits, but it just comes up a little too far at top.

At this point, I've hacked apart this mockup so many times that I just need to make a new one, so I'll try and get that done tonight.

Tiger spent his first full night on the bed with us! He was sitting at the door and meowing at the top of his tiny lungs, and M was worried that he would wake up our guest, so we let him in, and he snuggled us all night.

Poor Tibby hid in the bathroom all night because we had a big storm come through again. We again missed the worst of it, and we didn't have any tornadoes this time around, so it was mostly just heavy rain and winds. The thunder was loud enough to set off some car alarms, though, which I always find funny. But Tibby is a big chicken, and always heads to the windowless room in the middle of the house, like he's had kitty tornado training.

Went to Commissioner's Court this morning to be recognized for 5 years with the county. I got a shiny gold pin and a picture with the sheriff, and I missed lunch.

A productive weekend! I re-sized the 1906 corset pattern and recut the mockup on Saturday. It took most of Sunday to sew together the mockup and address the other fit issues. It was too snug at the side hip, so I let that out by an entire two inches, but the bottom front of the corset was weirdly flappy, so I actually took that in by an inch. The bust was also large, so I took about an inch out of that, too. I'm going to do another try-on tonight, because while I was laying in bed I started to think that maybe the entire torso was too long? There wasn't any wrinkling at the waist, but these were Lying In Bed and Overthinking It thoughts, and they must be appeased. So, I need another fitting tonight just to make myself feel better about it.

So, the corset was not finished at all over the weekend, but I feel good about how much I did get done. I also discovered that I have another yard of coutil on hand, so I don't have to order any for the final corset, hooray! I'm planning to dye it a nice robin's egg blue.

There was more stress and stupidity from the new apartment complex. The girl handling our case texted me again asking for M's boss's number, and was all "IT'S THE LAST DAY WE'RE HOLDING YOUR APPLICATION! URGENT! EMERGENCY!" I got snippy with her and said that the employee verification number that we gave her exists for this sole purpose, and that we even called it to make sure they had M's file, to which her response was "okay." -_- I gave her M's boss's number anyway, and once she had that she was suddenly radio silent. I tried texting her to confirm that the number worked, and she didn't answer, then calling to confirm that she got the number, was put on hold until 5 o'clock rolled around, and then was sent to voicemail.

M's boss did text us (she knows the whole apartment saga) to let us know that they had contacted her, so all is well.
