Dec. 15th, 2020 09:48 amSaturday was a lump day, and I didn't get anything done, but Sunday I actually sewed! I managed to get the hoop rehab to the hand-sewing phase, even though it took me all day to adjust the hoops and get them set in place.
Monday I was having some diverticulitis pains, so I took the excuse to call in to work, and spent the entire day sewing instead. I needed to readjust the hoop sizes again, but eventually ended up where I wanted, and then spent the entirety of the day hand-sewing the hoop wires to the tapes. I had blisters in my fingertips by the end of the day because I don't have a thimble. -_-
I have one more bone to sew to the tapes after work today, which my fingers are not looking forward to, but then it will just be a waistband, and I'll be done. There's a neat drawing of a waistband in an 1857 crinoline patent that has grommets and a hook for closures, so I'm going to go with that.
I won the auction for another glass jelly mould, which tracking says should be here by the 22nd, so if the Australia one doesn't show up, then I have a backup!
I had an instagram shoutout from a popular account (for my 18th Century shoe tutorial) and had a sudden surge of subs on both Insta and YouTube. It was quite a pleasant surprise! I still don't have the watch hours I need for monetization, though, which is really annoying. I really need to get better at self-promoting on other social media platforms. One of my goals for 2021 is to get more active on TikTok, essentially boiling down my current videos to 60-second quick bites. Hopefully that will drive a bit more traffic to my channel.
