Apr. 15th, 2021 08:47 amThe Toyota is now inspected, registered, and good to drive, so I took it to work this morning. It was my first time driving it, and it seems to be doing pretty well. There was a mystery exclamation point on the dash, but M said it was just a malfunctioning tire pressure gauge, so no worries. M's stepbrother is coming to pick up the Nissan today and take it back to El Paso, so we got all the Toyota stuff done just in time.
The research I was doing on Jenny Lind yesterday led to a fun little tidbit - when she was at the height of her fame, she became friends with Hans Christian Anderson, who fell deeply in love with her. She became the inspiration for many of the protagonists in his stories. But, when she turned down his romantic advances, he wrote a new story with her as the villain, a beautiful but unfeeling queen made of ice - "The Snow Queen." The Snow Queen was the inspiration for Disney's Frozen, which means that Jenny Lind is indirectly the inspiration for Elsa.
So, I figured that when I make my Jenny Lind style palmette fan for the tutorial, I can make it Elsa themed to tie it all in together and give myself a boost on the YouTube algorithm by taking advantage of the Disney tie-in.
