Jun. 5th, 2023 08:39 amFriday after work, M asked me to pick up some ground beef so we could make chili. If he'd asked earlier in the day, I could have just done a pickup order, but instead I had to trudge through Walmart in the after-work rush, which completely destroyed my poor sciatica addled hip. ~sigh~
I wasn't about to stand in the kitchen for an hour cooking after that, and M was still working, so no chili was made on Friday. He went out all day on Saturday for a friend's graduation celebration followed by a dentist appointment, so no chili then either. Rinse and repeat for Sunday. So we have a 5-lb meat log in the fridge that needs to be made into something today, or it's a total waste, as there is zero room in the freezer to store this thing. I have a feeling we will be throwing it out at the end of the day. -_-
My hip had me out of commission for the entirety of the weekend, so I sat on the couch and binged Ask a Mortician's stuff.
Had a lot of strange dreams this weekend. I have a reoccurring dream that there's a big nasty storm coming, and I'm trying to wrangle all the cats to get indoors. Had one of those this weekend. Had multiple dreams about attending costume events, specifically Regency ones, in big multi-story palaces with dancing on each floor. I'm guessing that seeing a billion costume pics on FB over the weekend triggered that one. I'm definitely yearning for costume events, but my current physical state has kept me from doing any significant sewing, and I have absolutely zero (okay, I have one, the 1905 lingerie dress) dresses that are ready to go for an event. ~sigh~ I feel like I'm never going to catch up and rebuild my wardrobe at this point. It's been three years since I lost all my stuff, and I barely have anything new finished since then.
Was actually thinking about sewing stuff over the weekend, and think it may be a good idea to get my 1830s/40s undies finished. A corded petticoat, at least. That way, I could fix the one 1840s dress I have that is pretty much mostly finished, and have something I could throw on for an event here or there. I'm also just a corset away from finishing my natural form undies, so I could do that, as well. Then I could finally work on gowns again. I'm just so sick of having to sit stuff out (there's a coronation dinner this coming weekend where everyone will be wearing their fanciest duds and their tiaras, and MAN I wanted to go to that) because I don't have anything to wear.
Anyway, complaints over. I will attempt to sew a thing or two over the coming weeks and see where that gets me. I know I won't be able to attend any events for the rest of this year because a) wardrobe and b) baby, but maybe next year I can get back into things.
The Captain is on vacation this week, so maybe I'll do some embroidery during work hours? I seem to have lost one of the finished bust gussets, so I may have to redo one, which will set me back a while, yarg.
