Jun. 21st, 2023 08:55 amHad multiple dreams about foraging for mushrooms last night. Hmm. Probably triggered by all the amazing mushrooms that were at Central Market - lion's mane, golden oysters, etc, that I've never seen in stores before and only ever seen posted in my foraging groups. If it weren't 100 degrees outside, I'd head to the woods and see what I could find.
Speaking of the temperature, we're under a "dangerous heat" advisory for the foreseeable future. Temps around 100 degrees, with the heat index up to 120! Aaaaaaugh. No outdoor anything for a while.
ERCOT (Texas power grid) sent out a round of emails that basically said "we're totally not having an emergency or anything, but could everyone just...not use as much power? Especially during the hottest part of the day? We're totally, totally fine, but...just please don't." The news now actually has a segment monitoring power demand vs. capacity because everyone in Texas knows that ERCOT is full of shit.
Ran errands after work yesterday - bread, groceries, thread - and was so hot and exhausted that I just walked in the house, stripped, and showered to cool down. The weather is truly, truly awful. My favorite local weatherman, who goes into great detail about why things are happening, says we are having a particularly horrible summer because the waters of the Gulf of Mexico are so much warmer this year than previously, and all that extra moisture is currently torturing us. Blech.
M was texting me all through his dinner out with his family. He got horribly sunburned taking his nephew to an amusement park yesterday. Ouch. He is bored and misses home. We had a fun chat about the "Russian" steakhouse they were at, which had a grand total of two actual Russian dishes on the menu (stroganoff and pierogi, but no borscht!)
I'm hoping to get some more petticoat work done tonight now that I have the serger thread I needed. Once all the seams have been finished off, completing the rest of the petticoat should be a relative breeze.
