Apr. 19th, 2024 09:42 amOops, ordered another book! Bought Jacqui Carey's Elizabethan Stitches. Now I just need to find a reasonable copy of her book Sweet Bags, but I haven't seen any used ones available, and post-Brexit shipping from the UK is expensive.
Stopped at The Container Store on the way home and picked up a new basket to hold all my Elizabethan projects. It's nice to have them separated out from the Victorian stuff so I don't have to dig through the mega-basket under the sewing desk to find what I need.
I've remember a couple of lengths of linen that I have in the storage unit - one a beautiful mustard yellow, the other teal. I don't think the teal could pass as period (though there is a late-period color called "popinjay" which is described as blue-green), but the yellow definitely could, so it's going to become...something. I think there's about 5 yards of it, so probably a kirtle. I may end up using the teal, as well. It's one of my favorite colors, and would look lovely garded with black bands.
Carolina jumped up on the bed this morning, and we discovered that she had somehow hurt her paw. The pad was torn a little and she'd left some blood on the bedsheet. We have no idea what she could have done to it. M thinks she may have snagged it on the bottom of the door when she was rattling it to be let in. She isn't limping or holding it off the ground when she sits, so hopefully it's not too bad. We're keeping an eye on it, and we've treated it with pet wound spray.
Weekend plans are to sew something. I don't care what, just something. M is taking the baby on Saturday, so I'll have the day to do as I please. Shift? Stays? Something.
