Sep. 24th, 2024 09:34 amWork was dull yesterday so I cut out a small version of the 1878 dolman pattern in paper so I could futz around with it and figure out the construction. I was truly stumped on what the heck was going on with the sleeve until I realized that the pattern piece I thought was part of the collar was actually the underpart of the sleeve (because I remembered that they almost never include collar pieces in their patterns, so it couldn't possibly be a collar). Huzzah! Once I figured that out everything fell into place. YAY. It's quite cute even just made up in paper, and the construction is dead simple now that I know what the heck that pattern piece was.
Even though it took me a million years, I managed to make the garlic chicken and potatoes for dinner last night. The baby went to bed easily at first, but woke up an hour later wailing like a banshee. It was definitely tooth pains (she has four coming in all at once) so we gave her some baby motrin and fed her some frozen mango chunks, which seemed to do the trick. We all got to bed much later than we wanted, though.
Mathed out how much PTO I'll have by December, and it looks like I'll actually have enough to take my usual 2 weeks around Christmas/New Years, which I am very excited about! I thought I wouldn't have enough saved since I've been taking so many days here and there during the year. I just have to not have anything pop up between now and then, and I'll be good to go. I'm really hoping I can get a decent amount of sewing for the Victorian weekend done during that time. If I push, I should be able to at least finish one dress over that break.
