Nov. 13th, 2024 09:17 amGot a call from M yesterday morning asking me to come home during my lunch break so I could watch the baby and he could get some work done. Arrived home, reheated some spaghetti, fed all the humans of the house (baby got chicken and fruit.) Got her down for a nap before I left so hopefully M could work more while she slept.
M called again about an hour after I'd gotten back to work, saying the baby was screaming inconsolably and he was worried. I could hear her through the phone and she sounded very distressed. I took the rest of the day off and we had the baby checked out, but she was physically fine and they suspect that it's extreme separation anxiety. Apparently this is normal for her age, so hooray.
Baby went to sleep early enough that it actually disrupted her bedtime routine, and she woke up at her normal bedtime and was not ready to go to actual bed. She screamed and threw her toys and had a royal fit for about 30 minutes, after which she was finally exhausted enough to go to sleep for real.
She was up early this morning, screaming again. She calmed down with a diaper change and bottle of milk, but because she'd gone to sleep so early she was ready to be up early, too. She was still awake when I left for work, but at least she was quiet and content to sit in her crib and play with her stuffed animals.
Everyone's routines were thrown off this morning so I really hope that she goes to bed at her normal time tonight.
Heading home for lunch again today one of M's coworkers went on vacation without telling the team, and now they're all scrambling to cover his accounts while he's out. If I need to keep going home during the day like this I'm going to invest in a toll tag so I can take the fast way there and back and not have to battle a zillion red lights.
