Nov. 18th, 2024 09:37 amWent home for lunch again on Friday. I stopped for sandwiches on the way home, grabbing a packet of balsamic dressing that I could toss into the marinade for the London broil, then went to the house, where M's clients still hadn't emailed him documents, and so he had no work to do. I made the baby a plate of food, then I chucked the balsamic dressing and some herbs into the anemic marinade I'd made while half-asleep that morning. We all ate lunch together, then I vacuumed the living room and changed out the baby's playmat for a clean one since she'd smashed all of her peaches into the current one.
Grocery pickup after work to restock on lunch supplies and fruit, then home to cook up the steak. It smelled glorious coming out of the marinade, so I must have done something right (probably the metric ton of rosemary that had gone in there), but I ended up overcooking it just slightly. Ah, well. Made excellent mashed potatoes that night.
Started feeling a bit down in the evening, and thought that sleep would fix it, but I woke up feeling even worse. Spent most of Saturday as a sad lump on the couch. Did manage to throw together a pot of beef stew and a pan of cornbread, but no other things were accomplished.
I was somewhat recovered on Sunday, enough that I could do a round of cat chores before the baby woke up. I started fitting the bodice mockup that morning, then once M was awake I headed to the mall to try and find a winter coat. I had pre-shopped a coat at Macy's that I wanted to try on, but when I got to the store they told me they no longer carry plus sized garments in-store, only online. Pissed off, I put back the earrings I had been considering buying and headed out into the main mall, which was surprisingly busy, almost like it was when I was a kid. Made my way to Dillard's, where I found two coats I liked - a long red one and a classic black pea coat. I ended up taking home the pea coat, though I may still go back for the red one eventually.
Came home, ate stew, spent time with the baby. M went out for the evening to help a friend do car repairs. The baby went to bed on time, so I actually had a couple of hours to myself to work on the bodice. Finished fitting the mockup, cut out the fashion fabric, and got it all assembled. It needs boning on the front darts and the hem finished before I can move on to sleeves. I haven't decided how I'm going to close the front yet, so right now it's just pinned. I'm hoping to finish the bodice this week so I have time to make undersleeves and a bonnet.
Baby has a checkup on Wednesday. I was originally just going to leave work early, but now I think I may just take the entire day. I could use it.
