Jan. 29th, 2025 08:22 amMonday made a beef roast for dinner with mashed potatoes, roasted sweet potatoes, and steamed edamame. The baby went crazy for the edamame, which is good! A new vegetable to feed her! We were supposed to finish off the leftovers yesterday, but M wanted pizza, and so pizza was had. Leftover pizza tonight, roast tomorrow.
I think I need to take a break from FB. Everyone under the sun is constantly posting about the latest doom that Tr*mp is enacting, and it's extremely depressing to see rights being eroded and the country being dismantled in real time. Bluesky is kind of the same way, so I downloaded Rednote/Little Red Book/Xiaohongshu last night, and it has already been a delight. I posted a simple hello post, with a pic of Tiger for the cat tax, and have already had over a dozen welcome messages from strangers telling me that Tiger is adorable and that my costumes make me look like a princess. Chinese users are posting lots of helpful videos about how to use the app so English speakers know what the buttons mean and how to interpret the emojis. There's lots of positivity, at least at the moment, and it's been such a breath of fresh air, let me tell you. I also like that it's not a TikTok clone - you can post video, pictures, or text posts, and you can save other's posts to collections the way you do on Pinterest. It's pretty neat, I like it a lot.
Baby has a checkup this afternoon, so half-day of work again. I am taking tomorrow of to be home while M is in Dallas for his job interview. His enthusiasm for the position has waned significantly, so I don't think he's going to take the job if they offer it to him. But, he's keeping his options open. I am going to use the free day to finish the ballgown skirt and possibly/hopefully mockup the bodice, so that this weekend I can grab some satin from the Dallas warehouses, and hopefully make up most of the bodice before Monday.
