Last week was a month long, and the weekend was a blip. I didn't get much done on Saturday, but M did go out and get a ham and a block of cheese so I could make soup. Since I didn't need the entire ham, we ended up slicing some for dinner and eating it with leftover mac 'n cheese and some baked potatoes that I brought home from work. It was a very good meal.

I stayed up way too late on Saturday night and didn't get to bed until nearly 2AM, which because of the stupid time change meant it was suddenly 3 AM. The baby woke me up five hours later, so I was struggling the rest of the day.

Baby went down for a nap an hour later than usual, as expected, and when she was finally asleep I did a purge of the pantry, throwing out expired things that had been taking up space on the upper shelf. It started just as an attempt to get the rice dispenser from the top shelf to see if it needed a refill, but when I saw the dates on the old cereal boxes up there I decided to do a culling. Ended up clearing an entire shelf and giving us some much needed space!

Did a huge grocery shop at Sam's. It was $100 more than our usual run, and beef prices are astronomical, WTF. They wanted $36 for two London Broils, which is insane. I kept beef purchasing to a minimum, just picking up a single package with two chuck roasts, and a 5lb tray of round so I can make some Chinese dishes. Ground beef was also marked up to $50 for a 10lb log, so I skipped that, too. Yeesh. Loaded up on chicken and bought a large pork loin that I portioned out into roasts and chops when I got home.

My energy was waning hard after the grocery trip, so it took longer than usual to get everything portioned and put away. The baby was walking around and yawning, so I put her down for another nap, and she slept from 5 until 8, ruh-roh. I had hoped that she'd just keep sleeping through the night, but that did not happen. (Thankfully, she went to bed at 10:30 and didn't fuss about it, but I need her sleep schedule to reset immediately, thank you very much.)

Cut up the remaining baked potatoes I'd brought home from work (they throw everything out at the end of meal time, and I couldn't let 7 perfectly good baked potatoes go to waste) and the remaining ham and made a chowder for dinner. The baked potatoes did not want to break down in the soup, so I gave them a bit of a squash with a potato masher.

No sewing was done all weekend, and I can't seem to find my sewing mojo right now. I'm a bit overwhelmed by the state of the kitchen, which I can't seem to catch up on. Every time I get it down to one sink of dishes, suddenly I have two sinks of dishes again, and there are pots stacked on the stove, and where did all these plates come from? Ugh. I know I need to make a big push and get it all done in one go instead of picking it off at handful of dishes at a time, but that's been feeling impossible lately. Also I hate it. TLDR, dishes suck.
