After a fairly good day on Sunday, Monday my blood pressure was stupidly high again. They spent the entire day chasing my BP with IV meds, and didn't manage to get it down to a sane level until the early evening. They also did a ton of blood draws to check all my other labs, and then put me on some horse pills for low potassium because apparently low potassium can trigger contractions.
I had an awful time sleeping, so they gave me an Ambien so I could try and get in some naps. This was regularly interrupted by nurses coming in, checking my vitals, the auto BP cuff going off every 15 minutes, more blood draws, etc, etc. It was the worst day so far.
This morning, the Doc came in and said that we can't keep chasing my BP with IV meds because that's just not good for either of us, so Wednesday will be delivery day. C-section is scheduled for 4:30pm, which will suck because I won't be able to eat all day, but hopefully we can get bumped up a bit earlier.
The rundown is that I'll get some spinal meds, they'll swoop in and scoop out the baby which will take less than a minute, then it's 30 minutes of sewing me up, and we're done. We get a little bit of intro time with her before she goes to the NICU. I'll stay in the hospital for another four days, after which the Doc said insurance stops paying so they'll have to send me home, even though if he had his way I'd be here for as long as the baby was. Hooray American health care! You have birthed baby, we don't need to pay for you anymore!
4:30 tomorrow is baby time, so wish us both luck.
