Joann's finally filed bankruptcy yesterday, though it says the stores and website will stay open. I still intend to stock up on essentials, I don't trust that this is the last of their woes.
Bought myself this Repeated Originals pattern to maybe do a one-day make with (though now I'm thinking of doing something else). Seems like it would be a quick and straight forward project, and it would be a nice accessory to have for Dickens. There is a translation error in the instructions, owing no doubt to the use of an internet translator, where they translated Tollfalten as "blind folds", when it really means box pleats. I would not have known what to do with "blind folds", so I'm glad they included the original German instructions so I could compare.
There are two Tudor/Elizabethan conferences happening this year, and I really want to go to both. First is the Westcoast Elizabethan Clothing Symposium, which has a star-studded list of presenters, including Ninya Mikhaila and Jane Malcom-Davies. It's in June, so it's coming up fast. The other is TudorCon, which is being held as Agecroft Hall in September. It's far less focused on clothing and more on general Tudor life. It's also $100 more expensive than WECS, their lineup of speakers isn't confirmed yet, and there isn't a schedule or list of confirmed lectures yet, either. So, less sold on that one. Main selling point for me right now is the location.
