YouTube Musings

It looks like I will have the house to myself on Saturday! I think I'll take the opportunity to film a bunch of Frock Talk segments that I can use to fill out my monthly schedules. I've always meant to make Frock Talk a monthly thing, and I have at least five garments on hand that I haven't examined on camera yet, so I'd have 5 months of videos done. If I have the entire day, then I could probably film all five segments, but more likely, he'll leave in the afternoon/evening, and I'll only be able to do one or two. Still, it's a start!
For the first time in many months I have my Friday video ready to go ahead of schedule! I finished filming some filler content last night and edited it in while the boys played D&D in the living room. It's now uploaded to YouTube and schedule to release on Friday morning. Huzzah! I just need to finish the thumbnail now.
I'm going to get started editing the next video tonight, which is a simple petticoat tutorial. The Red Dress video is supposed to be after that, so I have four weeks to get the dress finished and the video edited. There is a ton of footage to go through, though, so I need to start editing soon.
I'm also itching to be done with the Red Dress. I really, really want to make the pashmina wrapper, and the sooner I get started the better. I think that's what's been holding up finishing the Red Dress. I'm just so over it at this point that I want to take it down and move on, but I actually need to Be Better and finish it instead of abandoning it like I would usually. ~sigh~ But the wrapper is definitely calling.
I feel good about my trajectory for this year, even though I've already had to redo my schedule. With the few events we had left this year now completely cancelled, that means I don't have to work on outfits for those, and I can make other things. I'm thinking of maybe still making my arsenic dress, because I've wanted one for a long time anyway, but it's no longer a priority.
I still want to do 1890s Elsa, so maybe I'll aim to get that done for this winter. There's a lot of beading to do, so starting soon would give me a lot of time to get it done. The main project is really the cape, which would have an insane amount of beading on it. To that end, the embroidery frame needs to be built/finished so I can actually Get On With It. I have all the supplies, I just need to do it.
I also have been weirdly itchy to finish up the 1890s red velvet and lace capelet that I started....a year ago? It burbles to the front of my mind every once in a while, so I went ahead and ordered the remaining supplies I needed for it, and maybe I can hack away at it a little bit at at time after work. The beads were ordered through AliExpress, though, and will take 50 days (!!!) to get here, so it's going to be a minute before I can pick that one up again. What I can do, is piece the lace together, since I had to do some creative cutting to get the pattern out of the yardage I had. I was going to try to sew the lace bits back together using lace-making methods so the pattern looks seamless, so that could actually be something I could do while watching TV at night. I even have an Edwardian-era lace-making book I'm using as a reference for the stitches!
Also...beetlewing dress? Maybe? I'm feeling ambitious today, so I'm saying yes, but that will certainly change (many times) this year. It would certainly help to have the slate frame done to make that project easier!
