The county released our W2s yesterday, so I did my taxes last night, and they are now off my to-do list. Huzzah!
I ordered a yard of eyelet fabric to try and fake the style of embroidered petticoat that was worn with wrappers in the 1850s. I figure I can fussy-cut some of the embroidery and applique it to a plain petticoat to get the look. It'll be an experiment. I ordered through AliExpress, so the fabric won't be here until the end of March.
I've been trying to find a suitable fabric for another experiment - making a Victorian dress for under $50, since that's the magic number that muggles seem to think of as decent compensation for a custom dress. Y'all. It's impossible. I found some $1.97 fabric on AliExpress and thought I had it, but shipping stacked up to be more than the cost of the fabric, and it ended up over $50. Maybe I can make the whole video about searching for materials, and then at the end, with no materials and no dress, just go "SEE, IT'S LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE" and just have that be the point. XP

Date: 2021-01-28 06:22 pm (UTC)At some point I want to take a trip to the fabric warehouses in Dallas and scrounge around there. I know there are a few tables of fabric out there that are $3 or so, and occasionally a really cheap deal will pop up (like a friend who found silk satin for $3/yd because it was mislabeled as lining!) so it may be my best option.
