The kitten has found his voice! I let him roam the house unsupervised last night, and was treated to a serenade of tiny chirps, trills, and outright excited screeches. So much to see! A dust bunny! A flip flop! A tape dispenser! He does not know that mirrors are not other cats, or other rooms, and runs against them with his front paws wondering why he can't get into that space over there.

The adult cats were not pleased, what the hell, why would you let him out?! Tibby sat in a tight loaf on the sofa table and sulked like a big baby. Carolina crawled onto the top of the entertainment center so she could be safely perched away from the excited orange fluff ball. Tookie hid in the computer room and occasionally growled.

When Tiger is tired he wants to be picked up and cuddled like a baby. He likes to rub my face and lick my chin before settling in to sleep. He got to stay in the bedroom last night on the big bed, which he rolled right off of while doing a big stretch. It's too tall for him to jump back up onto, which we discovered when he took a flying leap at the mattress and belly flopped right into the side table.

A cold front moved in overnight and it was 34 degrees this morning. There was frost! Aaaaaand I woke up with a sinus infection, because of course. It will be 70 degrees again tomorrow, 85 by Friday, and then 55 on Saturday. Nope. Nope nope nope. Nope. Hate it. Pick a season, already!

Signed up for an upcoming NACA seminar. Their program is supposed to help get you really low interest on mortgages, as well as no down payment, closing costs, or fees. I want to be in a house, dammit, and the program's been recommended by several people that I trust, so fingers crossed. My only reservation is that you have to stay in the house for the length of the mortgage...so does that eliminate moving entirely until the house is paid off? Or does that just mean you can't use it as a rental property? We'll see what they say.

I can see why they require the mortgagee to remain the in property for the duration of the loan, the potential for abuse is staggering. But man, I hope you can get that!

The advice I got when I bought a house (I don't know you well enough to know if this information is redundant, sorry) was: 1) put down the largest downpayment that you can, it will reduce and possibly obviate Mortgage Insurance which is the biggest fucking scam on the planet, holy hell 2) pay extra every month if you can, even if it's only $5 3) expect $$$ of unexpected repairs in the first six months on top of that 4) a good real estate agent is worth their weight in gold, and will tell you what to look for, suggest you bring your own flashlight, and will notice things that the inevitably incompetent and useless home inspectors can miss.
