May. 10th, 2021 09:45 amBusy weekend was busy. I spent all of Saturday cleaning the apartment and hauling stuff to the storage unit, which took several trips. I took the opportunity to dig out an old Teens-era corset to use until my silk gets here, the rayon voile that I have a shit-ton of for the lingerie dress, and all the lace I could find, which somehow is all ecru? Meh. I keep reminding myself that there was a trend for ecru lace with white dresses (there's even advice in one of the lady's magazines that if you're using old or cheap lace to make a dress, to dip it in coffee to make it ecru colored because that improves the appearance and is an on-trend color combo), but I hate it so much. It just looks dingy to me. Blech. So I guess I need to go lace hunting.
Once I finished all the storage unit runs, I cooked dinner by sauteing some vegetables in a pot, pouring in a jar of pasta sauce and a jar of water, dumping in some pre-packaged fajita chicken and a box of noodles, and letting it simmer until the noodles were done. Ta-da, food. It made enough for us to eat all weekend, and was decently tasty.
I spent Sunday mostly on the couch with the cats, except for doing laundry and making some food. I caught up on the new season of Handmaid's Tale, finished Falcon and the Winter Soldier, watched all of Jupiter's Legacy, and watched part of a dumb documentary on the Son of Sam that Netflix is pushing. I bought 500 shares of Dogecoin, hopefully to make me money in a few years.
Liz and I are supposed to get together after work today for either coffee or dinner. We were originally supposed to on Saturday, but I bowed out after exhausting myself in the storage unit. It will be good to see her again. I saw her briefly last week when she brought me some sewing donations, but before that I hadn't seen her since before Covid.
Also, I GOT TO PET A KITTEN. So tiny. So cute. One of the other strays, a big, stripy tortie lady, let me give her some real scritchins. She was all skin and bones, poor thing, so I put out a bowl of food for her. I was told by a neighbor that she is the mama to Mama Cat. Mama Cat herself is looking a bit...round. Uh-oh. I think more kittens are in our future. Either that or she's getting a little fat off the nightly feedings. XD
ETA: Looks like some Costube drama has spilled over into the Real World, so I wrote a separate post about it. Fuck it, let's air this laundry.
