Jan. 30th, 2023 09:02 amKept worrying that I didn't order enough grosgrain fabric for my flounced petticoat, so I went ahead and ordered another 6 meters. That should give me enough for a nice full petticoat and nice fluffy flounces without having to math myself into oblivion.
Tinkered with the new crinoline over the weekend, finished the fabric panel with the bottom two bones, and added all the tapes. I definitely don't have enough boning left to finish the entire hoop. Oops. I'll have to order another roll, and the price has gone up, from $75/roll to $125 after shipping. Ugh. Ah, well. I prefer the hoop wire to the flat steel, so I just have to bite the bullet.
Also ordered 12 paisley shawls so I can finally make that wrapper I've wanted for years.
Booked the amazing Victorian house that I found for Dickens. We have the entire house to ourselves, and I'm insanely excited for it. There are six people in our group right now, with another possible 5. The house sleeps 16, so we have plenty of room.
Between fabric, boning, and the deposit on the house, I have spent way too much money on nonsense this month. Yeesh.
Winter rolled in overnight. The roads were supposed to be clear today, but there was ice on the bridges on the way to work. Tons of wrecks because people are dumb and try to speed when the roads are dodgy. Tomorrow and Wednesday are supposed to be bad, so guess who's staying home those days.
I'm going to have to brave the roads a little bit more today because I (finally) have my license renewal appointment today, and I can't put it off any longer because I need a valid ID for our lease renewal. Ugh. Adulting is stupid. I also have a grocery order waiting for me, and M is sick so he needs medicine. Thankfully, the temps should squeak just over freezing during the hours I'll be out, and I should be home before the precip starts this evening.
