Feb. 3rd, 2023 09:00 amThe ice storm has officially ended. I stayed home Tuesday and the county actually closed all offices on Wednesday, so I didn't even have to use any time off. Thursday they opened late instead of closed entirely, despite the fact that the roads were still completely iced over and it was raining ice pellets all day long. I stayed home because I am not risking life and vehicle in order to file someone's paperwork.
I made a big pot of chicken stew that lasted us through the ice storm. I felt very domestic over the break, and ended up baking a bunch of blueberry muffins and soft pretzels. M was very happy to have me at home for those few days, and was bummed that I was going in this morning.
I put together the new crinoline while I was off! I was productive! It's about 70% finished, I still have to sew about half of the connections between the tapes and the bones, and it still needs a closure for the waistband. It took a bit longer to put together this time around because I was futzing with the size of the hoops for a while, but I'm really happy with the current shape. I had exactly enough hoop boning on hand to cut out all the bones I needed!
It took me around six hours yesterday to sew half of the connections, so I probably won't finish the skirt up tonight, but it will be finished by the end of Saturday. I'll also see about whipping up a quick petticoat this weekend.
I made something! Hooray!
M is planning to make a big pot of spaghetti tonight, which means I don't have to be bothered with cooking and can just dive into working on the crinoline. The main obstacle I faced on it yesterday was back pain, not time, so we'll see how much I manage to finish tonight before my back can't take anymore.
