Feb. 7th, 2023 08:55 amFinally made it to the DMV yesterday to get my license renewed. I now have a new, even worse picture than my old one, as is tradition. The DMV was super organized - I checked in on the website before I headed over so I already had a ticket number, they had people directing foot traffic once I got there (I already had all my paperwork, so I got to skip that part), and the line moved super fast. When I arrived they were on ticket 278, I was 353, but I was in front of a clerk in around 30 minutes, so really not terrible at all.
I went to the apartment complex office right afterward and gave them a copy of my new temp license, so now all the nonsense related to our lease renewal is also finished, hooray! Also discovered what made the loud BANG that woke M and I in the middle of the night during the ice storm - it was the covered parking one building over collapsing due to ice. Yikes.
Couldn't do much in the way of sewing last night because my colon is still angry. So, I sat on the couch and trimmed the thread fringe off the selvedges of my petticoat panels and pinned together the bits for the flounce, so at least some progress was made.
Emailed my doctor this morning and she's given me a prescription for colon meds, hooray! She also put me on a liquid diet for two days, boo. Not that I've been eating much anyway.
The new roll of hoop wire has arrived. I am resisting the urge to make a new bustle before I finish the 1850s undies currently in-progress. I need to finish the current petticoat since I'm writing a tutorial on it, and really can't get sidetracked. (I mainly want to make the bustle because I want to make a purple dress for when Gilded Age S2 comes out, but I learned last night that it's been pushed back to September. ~sigh~ At least I have more time to futz around in the 1850s!)
Fashions of the Gilded Age Vol. 1, which vanished from the internet for a while, has reappeared at a whopping $773. What...the hell.
