I actually, to my own surprise, finish the crinoline on Friday evening! They let us out of work at 3pm, which meant that I had two extra hours of sewing time, and I was able to get all the connections finished before the evening. Saturday morning I make a quick trip to Joann's to pick up a clasp for the waistband, and once I was home I finished that up, and voila, my first complete project of the year!

I started work on a petticoat on Saturday afternoon, intent to finish it on Sunday, but my colon had other plans. I woke up with screaming pains in my side, so I just stayed curled up in a tight little ball on the couch for the remainder of the weekend. Blah. It is mildly improved this morning, but not entirely gone. Stupid colon.

I attempted to make my first pot of chili this weekend, with mild success. The recipe I was following had way too much liquid so even after removing four cups of broth, it was still more of a soup than a chili. All that broth diluted the spices, too, so it was a bit lackluster. I will try again at some point, and it wasn't terrible, it just wasn't what it was supposed to be.

I'm feeling very bored with our current rotation of recipes, so I'm attempting to hunt for more things to make. M is such a freaking picky eater that it's hard to find things that aren't just a different arrangement of the same ingredients that we always use. It's hard when the only veggies he eats are peppers, onions, tomatoes, potatoes, and green beans. He'll eat carrots and celery if they're in a soup, but not otherwise. ~sigh~ Suggestions welcome.

ETA: I can't believe I forgot to mention this, but someone set fire to a building in our apartment complex over the weekend! AUGH, CAN WE JUST NOT?! It was the laundry building, and it was probably kids being absolute dumb fucks, but the fire department came out quickly and extinguished it. I popped into the building after the hubbub died down, and it looks like someone put a bunch of trash into a laundry basket, set it on a table, and then lit it on fire. There was minor scorching on the wall by the table, a half-melted plastic laundry basket, and ashy debris scattered around it. So glad it wasn't worse.
