Decided on Friday night that instead of finishing the grosgrain petticoat, I would finally hammer the grommets into the 1906 corset since M was out with friends and I couldn't bother him with my hammering. And I did it! And then I tried it on and the damned thing was still too big. Loose all around while meeting in the back. ~sigh~ (This makes me think that I need to go back and readjust the 1868 corset pattern before I do a mockup, since the finished measurements for that will be similar to the too-big 1906 corset.)

So, Saturday, all day, I ripped the thing apart, shaved a 1/4 inch off each seam, taking a total of 4 inches off the entire thing, and sewed it all back together. It took me nine hours of near continuous work, but I got it done. And now it fits! I get a good reduction while still having a decent lacing gap. Finally! It only took me *check notes* nearly two years.

Despite having ample cushion in the hip department, I don't squish the right way to give me that signature Edwardian hip spring, so I need to make some hip pads. I could have done that yesterday, but I was so completely drained from Saturday's sewing marathon that I had to muster all my energy just to cut out and pin together the mockup for the 1899 skirt. I did some tweaks to the fit around the waist, eliminating some of the weird bumps made by the curvy seams, but then I couldn't see the bottom half of the skirt because we don't have a full-length mirror, and that was annoying enough to make me just fold everything up and forget sewing for the rest of the day.

What I really need is another papertape form, so I'm going to pick up the supplies for that after work and hopefully wrangle M into helping me with it sometime in the next couple of days.

Anyway, was totally exhausted and spacey by the end of Sunday, so M and I hit the fancy grocery store and picked up dinner there instead of cooking. I finished watching 1899 on Netflix, which I 100% only started because of That Dress. I was worried that it would leave on a huge cliffhanger that would now never be resolved since it was canceled, and while it did, it also managed to wrap up the central mystery of the first season satisfactorily enough that I didn't feel cheated.

I'm picking up a rotisserie chicken from the store tonight so I can make enchiladas for dinner. I'll try and make the hip pads tonight so tomorrow M and I can tackle the papertape form. I'd like to wrap up the under layer for the skirt this week, and maybe get the fashion skirt started before the weekend. I have just over a month to finish the entire outfit, and there's lots to do, so I can't slack off like I'm prone to doing!
