Sep. 30th, 2024 09:13 amManaged a good deal of sewing on Saturday - the boning for the back of the 1830s stays arrived, so they were inserted and the rest of the binding stitched on, which finished off the actual construction of the stays. Hooray! They just need grommets to be wearable. The baby actually took a three-hour nap in the afternoon, which allowed me some time to do the fortifying satin stitch at the points of the gussets. My satin stitch is slow as hell, though, so I only managed to finish one half of the stays. I will try to wrap up the other half during the week, and somehow get the grommets hammered in without disturbing the baby or interrupting M's work.
I'd put off all the chores on Saturday so I could sew, so Sunday I spent most of the day catching up with stuff around the house. We were completely out of clean dishes, so I was in the kitchen for hours, scrubbing and washing. Once that was finally done, it was late enough in the afternoon that I needed to start on dinner. I had a bunch of large tomatoes that were on their last leg, so I roasted them up and made soup, which we ate with grilled cheese sandwiches. The baby got her own quarter of a sandwich, which made her very happy, and M got to eat as much tomato soup as he wanted, which made him super happy.
Late in the evening, M had a sudden craving for pimento cheese, so he went to the store and we had pimento cheese sandwiches as a late dinner. Attempted baby wrangling began soon after. She's been fighting her bedtime the past couple of nights for some reason, and hasn't been sleeping until 11 or so. Finally got her down, jumped in the shower, and then to bed.
Baby was up at 4:30 because of tooth pain, so I gave her a bottle of milk and another dose of baby motrin, and she went right back to sleep. Poor kid.
Put a beef roast in the crock pot for an easy dinner tonight. I'll whip up some mashed potatoes once I'm home, which usually go fairly quickly. Hopefully will get some more sewing in.
