Dec. 3rd, 2024 08:28 amBaby had gone to sleep super early on Sunday night due to an early bath, so she was up extremely early Monday morning. I did our normal morning routine, which usually puts her right back to sleep, and thankfully that worked because I was not ready to be up at 5AM. I went back to bed and got what sleep I could, which was not much, but better than nothing I suppose.
Threw a chuck roast into the crockpot before heading to work, worked until 11, then headed home for lunch. Made us sandwiches and gave the baby a plate of food which she barely touched. She was cranky and demanding and yes, you obviously need a nap. Put her down for a nap before heading back to work.
Grocery pickup, came home, made mashed potatoes, roasted carrots (which were not great since those rainbow carrots from Sam's have absolutely no flavor), and gravy from the meat drippings to go with the roast while trying to keep the baby from losing her absolute mind. She was still incredibly grumpy, and would wail anytime she was put down or left in her playpen, but if I had her with me in the kitchen she kept pulling dishcloths off the counter or trying to get into the cabinets and screaming anytime I made her stop. It was a rough evening. Everything I tried - food, milk, cuddles, motrin - nothing helped.
Eventually, all the food was done, the baby finally settled down enough for me to put her to bed, and I had a sliver to time to myself. I had in mind that I'd get an hour of sewing time in before bed, but I was so exhausted that all I did was pull out the evening bodice pattern and put it on the sewing table. Went to bed at 9 and passed out.
Leftovers tonight, and hopefully a more cooperative baby, so I'll try and get the evening bodice pieces cut out and fit after work tonight. If I can accomplish that, then tomorrow I can work on the structure, and then Thursday I can do the closures/finishing. I can stay up pretty late on Thursday if needs be, since I don't have to leave on Friday until 10 AM (it's only a 5 hour drive, even with bad traffic), so I can power through that night if needed. I have a small window once I check into the hotel where I can get a bit of sewing done before my first event, which is at 6:30 on Friday evening (with hotel check-in at 3pm) so if I absolutely need to, I can do a bit of work once I get to Galveston. It's going to be a squeeze, so hopefully I can stay on track.
