Dec. 4th, 2024 08:54 amWent home during lunch yesterday to an M who was in a very foul mood because the baby was still being awful. When I got home after work, he said that he'd discovered that she just wanted water. Two days of screaming because she was tired of milk and just wanted water. Ugh. Can't wait until she can talk and can tell us what she needs.
Was not able to sew anything last night. M had an after-hours meeting that took nearly two hours, then he had work to finish up and wasn't out of the office until 9pm, so I was stuck on the couch with the baby asleep on my lap. -_- I was pretty sour about it, because it means there's definitely no way to make the evening bodice before I leave on Friday. So, I'm going to focus on making the fischu and maybe pretty it up somehow. I'm rather bummed that I'll be wearing a day dress at the ball, but them's the breaks I suppose.
Need to make a stop at the storage unit to pick up my wool bonnet and a suitcase.
Forecast for Galveston this weekend is lots and lots of rain and wind. This will probably kill the Tea on the tall ship, since that is outdoors, but hopefully we'll get a break in the weather so it can go on. All the other events are inside, and so should be fine.
In other news, the same street that had the Halloween spider invasion, now all have the same inflatable snowman decoration. I've counted 10 so far. One side street, however, has decided to rebel, and they all have the same 'penguins play on a giant snowball' inflatable.
A friend in the Houston costumers group has encouraged me to finish my red natural form dress in time for Navasota, so that project may be getting moved up. If I do make it, it's going to bump either the blue dress or the purple stripe. Since the plan for the purple stripe is a bit more vague, I'm considering ditching it to make the red dress. We'll see how I feel once I have the ballgown finished, which is my top priority.
Did some calculations yesterday, and if I don't take off any time between Dickens and Christmas, then I will have enough PTO to take off my usual 2 weeks at the end of December. Hooray! I was worried about it since I'd had to take off a few unexpected days last month, but it should still work out. I'm really hoping to do a lot of sewing during that time, but M is one of the few that's working through Christmas, and two weeks around Christmas/New Year's is always extremely busy, so I probably won't have as much time as I want. Still, I'm hoping to finish at least one garment for Navasota, which should be doable if I'm persistent.
