Long weekend ended up being one of mostly chores. Saturday we had an anticipated delivery of the baby's new toys and furniture, so I spent the morning tidying up, sweeping, and vacuuming the living room. M went out and did several loads of laundry and didn't come home until very late, around 3AM.

I spent a good chunk of the morning attempting to make Italian pot roast. There was a lot of chopping and searing and frying, for what in the end turned out to be a rather mediocre dish that neither M nor I really liked. Blah. At least the baby ate it happily, so she ended up getting most of it. I did, however, make excellent mashed potatoes, so that's something at least.

Delivery arrived in the late afternoon, so baby and I spent the rest of the day playing with her new stuff. She now has a little lounge chair that is very wee and cute, a set of mangetiles, which were highly recommended online for her age group and which have become her new favorite thing, so thanks internet, and a set of Color Wonder markers and papers so she can draw without making a mess everywhere. All three items were a hit, so hooray!

Sunday I spent the morning folding all the clean clothes, which had been left in the living room and were taking up half the free space. GAH. I felt rather accomplished afterward, because last time we did laundry the clean clothes ended up living in their hampers for weeks and weeks.

Put on a marathon of Ghibli movies for the rest of the day. I was having a lot of stomach problems, because surprise, my anti-nausea meds can also cause constipation. I was in agony a good chunk of the day just trying to go. Thankfully, I don't seem to need my nausea meds as much now, so hopefully I don't have to deal with all that nonsense again.

Monday was not a good day. I had been looking forward to making myself some tea sandwiches for breakfast, only to discover that my dill had completely disappeared. I was feeling a little claustrophobic because of all the stuff in the living room, so I decided to tackle refilling the rice dispenser so I could get the 20lb bag out of the way. This, of course, all went sideways, when I lost my grip on the refilled dispenser as I was trying to lift it back into the pantry, and several pounds of rice came pouring out of the top. -_-

So, I ended up having to take apart quite a bit of the pantry to sweep up all the spilled rice, then try and put everything back in a way that it all fit correctly, which ate up most of the rest of the morning.

M finally woke up just as I was finishing all of that and the baby's naptime was rolling around. And she FOUGHT that nap with every scream and sob her little body could muster. It took a good hour to get her to calm down, and by then she was so exhausted from fighting that she just passed out.

With her down, I made a grocery run to pick up some dill, eggs, and fruit. It started to rain just as I got to the store, and by the time I was finished shopping it was pouring hard and I had to load up the car in the rain.

By the time I was home, it was mid-afternoon and I was hungry and frustrated. I finally made my sandwiches, which helped a little, but I still felt low.

It rained all the rest of the day, a lovely rumbly storm with drenching rains and rolling thunder. At least that part of the day was very pleasant. Then we had one VERY close lighting strike/thunderclap, which killed our internet, so no TV for the rest of the night, which the baby did not like at all. She kept bringing me the remote and then pointing at the TV.

Of course, being already in a bad mood, she then decided to be screamy and obstinate about her dinner, and it was the last straw and I broke down in tears. And that was the end of my night.
