It was a busy weekend where I drove all the places and did all the things.
Saturday I had some time before picking up M, so I spent a little bit of time wrestling with the petticoat. The serger, which I thought I had conquered, proved itself to be complete garbage, snagging, snarling, and unthreading itself every five inches or so. I finally gave up after an hour of battle, when all I'd managed to do was finish the seams on one of the skirt ruffles, so twelve 8" long seams. Ugh. I rage shopped for a replacement and found a lady in Dallas that's selling the same model of serger that I had before the fire for $150, so if it's there next paycheck then I'm going to contact her.
Giving up on the serger, I finally tackled the remaining dishes and did a scrub of the entire kitchen. Then I got a wild hair about the state of the freezer, so I took everything out and rearranged it so it made more sense and also so I could take a mental inventory of what all we have, which turns out to be mostly steaks and chicken thighs. So there will be much chicken soup and stew in our future.
Then I made a pot of potato and sausage soup, which I finished just before I left to pick up M. It took me about twice as long as it usually does because I had to rest so often, but I didn't feel sick at all while cooking, so I consider it a win!
M's plane arrived early (glad I was monitoring it!) and he had no checked luggage, so it was a quick in and out from the airport. He told me all about the trip on our drive home, which was, as always, a combination of "it was fine, nothing really happened" and "my family can piss me off like no other people on the planet."
Sunday I had lunch with Liz, which was lovely. We had sushi and caught up, then we headed to a new ice cream shop called "Creamistry" which makes their ice cream with liquid nitrogen. Gimicky and very bougie, but it tasted great.
Sonogram is on Thursday, so we'll finally get to know what we're having. I'm 99% sure it's male because M is one of three brothers, and his brothers all have sons. I think it had a growth spurt or something, because it suddenly feels like I'm always wearing pants that are too small, but I can't take off the pants to get any relief because they're internal pants. Meh.
