No towels were folded or dresses ironed last night. I hate how exhausted I am in the evenings! Ugh. Dinner was frozen lasagna because I couldn't be bothered.
The replacement heart vase from Temu arrived yesterday, hooray! I also received an email this morning that Kendra's 18th century wig styling book has finally shipping, also hooray! I think I preordered that book at least a year ago, so I'm excited it's finally on its way. I had a copy of the original, but all my best sewing/costuming books were fire casualties, so I'm really glad they decided to re-release it!
Now I just need to replace my copy of The Victorian Dressmaker from Prior Attire, and the KCI Fashion books, and I think I'll have replaced pretty much everything.
Two major costume events are planned for the end of next year - the October Navasota Victorian weekend (if they do make it yearly, which I believe they will) and Dickens in December. I have a lot to sew, as these are all multi-day events that need different clothes for different occasions. I'm actually pretty excited to have something big to sew toward. Navasota will be natural form, and I'm planning a mourning gown for the ghost walk, a walking dress for Saturday's dance class and general stuff, a ballgown for the ball, and a fancy day dress for the Sunday tea.
Dickens will be 1850s, and there are tons of events throughout the long weekend - a fancy wrapper and petticoat for the Thursday breakfast, a ballgown for the Friday night Soiree, a fancy day dress for the Saturday tea, a day dress for the Tea with the Captain's Wife (on a tall ship!) and an evening dress for the handbell concert. I am bummed that I'm missing it this year since it's the 50th anniversary of the festival, and I'm sure they're going to add a few more events, but it is what it is, and I'll go next year.
Anyway, I have a clearer picture in my head of the Dickens wardrobe, since I was already planning to make most of it for this year's cancelled trip, so this weekend I'm going to try and get started on something for it. So I'm planning to finish the damned grosgrain petticoat once and for all, and then get started on one of the 1850s dresses, probably the electric blue plaid dress since I have all the materials for it on hand. I need the floof!
I'm also feeling a good burst of energy today, which may be totally gone by the weekend, but while I'm feeling okay and optimistic, it's fun to make plans.
