Well, womp womp, I spoke too soon about the house. The inspection came back with some really terrible discoveries - the cast iron pipe that is original to the house and about 90-100 years old is crumbling and the entire plumbing system needs to be replaced. There is negative grading toward the house, and with the inadequate ventilation to the foundation, there is "abundant organic growth" as the inspector called it, underneath the house. Meaning mold. Oh, and the foundation repairs the current owner did? They leveled the house with wooden shims instead of metal, so they're going to compress and deteriorate, but they also failed to replace the rotting piers or even set the leaning ones upright, so the foundation is still terrible. 

So, we're backing out of the sale. One more year of apartment dwelling for us.

Awww! That's disappointing, it looked like a cute little house...at least on the surface (that's the trouble, I know). So many opportunities to be disappointed in the house-buying process, heh. (I think our current house is the 6th one that we put an offer on!) Glad you did an inspection and didn't get stuck with all those problems, though; they're some pretty serious issues. :/
