Baby woke me up early-ish on Saturday, so  after giving her breakfast I decided to make it a cleaning day. Started with the cat boxes, since Tiger was doing his "clean the boxes, human!" meow, and while I was in the middle of that, Tibby decided that he wasn't going to wait and went and peed on a pile of fabric in the living room, which included a few of the opera skirt paper pattern pieces. >( I was pissed, but I managed to save them with some delicate cleaning and then laying them out flat on paper towels to dry. The fabric was scraps from the opera dress that I'd set aside to cut the bodice out of, but I still have an entire bolt of the fabric left, so I didn't bother trying to save what he'd peed on.

Once all that was cleaned up, I spent the rest of the day tidying up and scrubbing the living room, ironing the remaining clean clothes, sweeping, scrubbing the floors and baseboards in the living room and kitchen, and putting away project supplies.

It feels really nice to have the living room decluttered again, I was starting to get a bit overwhelmed by all the stuff that was hanging off every surface. I still have some trouble spots, namely the TV console, which is where all the Elizabethan project bits are currently piled, and the credenza by the kitchen, which is where the baby formula keurig is and which is piled with bottles of water and other supplies.

I didn't manage to get the dishes cleaned, even though they are piled on every countertop at this point and desperately need cleaning. I was too beat by the end of the day.

M took the baby on Sunday so I could sleep in, which I very much needed because I slept until 11. I took it easy for the rest of the day. I did not do the dishes.

I did watch the entirety of Fallout, which I enjoyed. I thought from the trailers that it was going to be on the silly side, which is why I hadn't bothered with it yet, but I was happy that it was not overtly silly, there were just some humorous moments sprinkled throughout. M is a huge fan of the video game series, so once I'd finished the show we compared notes on what happened and how the world was set up. Seems like most of the aesthetic details of the world are correct, and the main plot is taken right from one of the games, but the timelines are vastly different, and some of the major events diverge drastically.

Also caught up on the first two episodes of George & Mary, which is set in 1615. The costumes are actually decent. The cut of the women's waistcoats are mostly pretty good, though there are a lot of modern fabric choices. Mary gets an embroidered waistcoat at one point that's obviously made from a modern pre-embroidered taffeta, but which is still passable. The men's clothes are also fairly good, and I appreciate the the styles the French wore were visible different from the English, and still correct for the period. I've seen some screenshots from upcoming episodes that show a Spanish envoy, and all the people are in recognizably Spanish styles, so I'm excited for that.

Queen Anne's outfits are *chef's kiss* near perfection. I did roll my eyes a bit at her blue & white dress that was covered with Dutch tile motifs because the print looked a bit silly (can't find a photo of it), but the cut and styling of the dress is spot on, and her red dress in the next scene looks fantastic and is perfectly period. And her hair is amazing! They've done SO WELL with the Queen's hair! She's in a French farthingale almost every time we've seen her, which makes me so happy, I'm so glad they didn't shy away from using it. My one qualm is that Anne is the only one so far who does wear it, everyone else just wears modest bumrolls. I get why they did it, to make the Queen stand out among the cast, but that no one at court is wearing a French farthingale is a bit odd.

Also, the actress playing Anne is a too old. Anne is supposed to be 41 during the main events of this story, and she's 38 when the show starts in 1612, and the actress is 52 and often looks much older. I get that we're only a few years off from Anne's death, but come on.

Other than the costumes, the show is pretty entertaining. There is A LOT of sex, which, fine, okay, the whole plot is about getting George into the King's bed, but there's just superfluous orgies around every corner, which is a bit annoying. Lots of full-frontal nudity from all genders. So, be forewarned if that is not your thing.
