Friday was a short work day, as I found out that Admin had left early (1pm!) to celebrate passing our state inspection. Nobody told me, though, so I didn't find out until almost 2. ~grumble~ I wasn't about to hang out a second longer, so I scrammed as quickly as I could and went directly to the estate sale. It had been pretty picked over by the time I arrive since other sewists had already learned of it and been there first thing on Thursday morning to dive into the fabric piles, but I still managed to score a huge bolt (at least 30 yards but could be as much as 50) of pink plaid taffeta which may be silk ($60 for the whole bolt), a bolt of blue plaid that is either wool or cotton, a bolt of absolutely eye-searingly bright bubblegum pink damask that will become something obnoxious (I'm thinking either 1830s or Italian Ren, and leaning toward the Italian), a bolt of lightweight white linen, a bag of medium-weight linen, and various small cuts of embroidered taffetas that will become sleeves and other accents. The whole haul came in around $180 after tax. Not bad!

There was a very sweet kitty roaming around the house, and I was mildly worried that the cat would have nowhere to go because I'd assumed the owner had died as is usually the case with estate sales. But it turned out that the owner was just selling the house and moving in with her son and couldn't take a whole house worth's of stuff with her, so the kitties (there was another around there somewhere they said) would be fine. Whew!

After the sale I headed to the storage unit to drop everything off. Seems silly to buy stuff just to put it immediately into storage, but I don't want to clutter up our limited square footage, no matter how much I want to keep the new stuff around so I can admire and pet it.

Since I had time before my grocery pickup would be ready (I'd timed it for when I usually get off of work) so I finally had the chance to take care of the overdue car inspection. Then it was groceries and then home, feeling very productive and accomplished.

Saturday was intended to be a sewing day, which was completely derailed when I discovered that Tibby had PEED ON THE OPERA SKIRT. AUGH. The rest of the day was spent scrubbing and soaking and scrubbing and soaking, trying to remove the offending stain. It still smells a bit of pee, so I'm going to hit it with the anti-urine spray to get what the laundry soap couldn't. Hopefully that will take care of the last of it.

I woke up on Sunday feeling very under the weather, so I spent the day on the couch. Blah.

Still felt bad on Monday, and Tuesday the culprit was revealed as severe PMS (I thought I was coming down with a cold, I was so run down), and then I was attacked by the worst cramps I've had in years. I left work before lunch and went home to nurse my aching innards and fill myself full of pain meds.

Tomorrow the baby has a checkup, so Friday will likely be our big cleaning day before M's friend flies in on Saturday. A bit peeved that I have to play hostess over the only long weekend I have between now and September. (All the other federal holidays fall in the middle of the week, blah.) M is taking the week off to spend with his friend, so they'll likely be out and about most of the time.

Can it be June now? May has been exhausting.

Goddamnit Tibby!

I'm looking at fabric websites for linen and wishing I had your luck. So spendy!

Tell M there are no more unannounced visitors after this, it's shitty to spring that on someone.
