M was told at the last minute on Monday that he needed to be in-office on Tuesday. The urgency? A team-building scavenger hunt. -_- So, I had to use one of my vacation days, M lost a day of work during a week where he is slammed, it cost $40 in tolls to get there and back, and the new manager got to feel good about herself. Hooray.
The extra day off was nice, though, since I didn't feel like I got much of a weekend. The baby actually slept until 1pm! So I lounged in bed after waking up, petting Carolina (who was standing on my chest demanding that I do so) and eating chocolates like an absolute loaf. It was fabulous. Made myself some tacos for lunch, and spent the rest of the afternoon attacking the dish mountain. Ironed a dress for today, thought I didn't get the rest of the ironing done. Oh, well. Ate the rest of the taco meat as nachos for dinner, showered, and went to bed.
Captain is on vacation next week, which means a veeeery slow week for me. Will I manage to actually bring some hand-sewing with me to keep me occupied? We shall see.
Liz texted yesterday to say that she'd be in town finishing the cleanout of the old apartment before they move permanently to Abilene (😥) and invited me to dig through the remaining fabric and such that she's not keen on taking. She also has a pile of stuff set aside for me, including some extant clothing, patterns, and fabric. With her leaving town I really don't have any IRL friends left that I see regularly, which is sad.
Hoping to work on the 1872 corset this weekend so I can get to work on Dickens stuff. I have Big Plans and have been yearning to get started. (The opera dress is still in the naughty corner after being peed on. The smell is out, but I haven't had much desire to work on anything with a train ever since the incident, lest it happen again.) So it's back to 1850s stuff for Dickens. I have everything on hand to make one of the planned dresses, and I really want to get started on the skirt, since it's the most absurd part of it, and I can work on that without the corset being finished yet.
