Started the weekend out by hitting the storage unit after work. I had to dig through many, many boxes to find it, but I eventually found the JCP regency dress. Turns out, I do not have a dedicated Regency box. It was in the bottom of a bin of mixed finished and unfinished projects. I really need to go through and cull all those old unfinished projects that I've been hanging onto. I am not going to finish that Starfleet uniform from when I was mumbledy pounds lighter, or that 18thC dress whose fabric burned up. But that is a project for another day.

Besides the JCP regency dress, I also found my bodice petticoat with corded hem, which is definitely too small, and a lovely lobstertail bustle with eyelet flounces over each bone that is super cute. Good job, past me! So glad I don't have to make a new bustle for future projects. The JCP dress fits through the bodice and skirt, but as predicted, the sleeves are too tight. I think I can get away with putting a gusset in the underarm and that being good enough. If not, then there's enough length in the skirt that I can chop off a couple of inches and add that into the sleeve seam to expand the entire thing. The original plan of using a raspberry colored taffeta I have in storage for the spencer is a no-go, though.  The flowers in the dress's print are much more of a purple/burgundy, so I'm going to have to go darker. It actually looked perfect next to the silk I'm using for the 1872 corset, but I only have tiny pieces of that fabric left, definitely not enough for a spencer. I'll have to take another look in storage to see if I have a plum or burgundy colored fabric that will work.

Made a Sam's run afterward, which was actually enjoyable. They were blasting the AC, which was lovely after spending half an hour hauling giant boxes of fabrics and books back and forth in the storage unit. Picked up mostly essentials, and only splurged on a couple of treats (some blueberry muffins, and some meat & cheese snacks) and somehow ended up spending $85 on just 8 items. Yeesh. But, at least it's all in bulk and will last for a good long while.

Saturday I chipped away at the ruffle monster. I had forgotten that I didn't actually cut out all the strips for the ruffles that I needed, so half the day was dedicated to doing that, because I messed up the first couple of strips by cutting along the wrong grainline. ~sigh~ I pinned all the strips together, and managed to sew together and hem one of them. I also sewed together the pieces for the base, and hemmed that. So, progress was made. I didn't manage to get the first ruffle attached, but I may be able to do that tonight or tomorrow.

Since it was M's birthday weekend, he was out and about doing stuff with friends every day. Saturday he went to Weatherford to pick up the gift I bought him, and it turned out to be Peach Festival weekend, so he spent some time there and brought home a bag full of fresh peaches, which were delicious. Saturday night he and his friends went to a late showing at Texas Theatre in Dallas to see Longlegs

We had marinated another London Broil to make on Saturday, which I ended up just cooking for myself since he was out and about. Cut up some red potatoes and carrots and mixed them with olive oil, Italian seasonings, garlic powder, s&p, and parmesan cheese, and roasted them as a side.

Woke up Sunday feeling terrible - stomach ache, back ache, headache, everything ached. I decided to take things as easy as I could, though the baby was being incredibly fussy all day long, which made that difficult.

Attempted to feed the baby some normal baby food, which she absolutely hated. She would either just let it fall out of her mouth (in the case of the meat ones) or she's actually gag dramatically (when we tried banana puree), so no purees for her. I tasted both, and yeah, the meat one was unappealing (unseasoned chicken in water, bleh) but the banana one tasted good. She did the same dramatic gag when I gave her some mashed potatoes the other night, so it's definitely a texture thing for her. I ended up chopping up some leftover steak and a fresh peach, and she ate both of those happily.

Sunday was M's actual birthday day, but instead of going out he wanted to stay home and thoroughly clean and inspect his birthday gift (a vintage shotgun), which he spent most of the day doing. In the evening he went out with friends for dinner at the last minute, so instead of cooking I just made myself a sandwich. I caught up on House of the Dragon and watched a scary movie once the baby was finally asleep (Bodies Bodies Bodies, which was silly but enjoyable.)

Actually remembered to bring my tape measure to work today, so the regency stays will finally be cut to size. I will attempt a mockup sometime this week.

Well I mean, who wants tasteless meat puree? I don't blame the baby one bit!

IIRC everything at Costo used to cost about $10, almost as if they planned it that way. Which made it kind of easy to keep a running tally in my head of how bad the bill was going to be when I finally got up to the cash register. Ten items in the shopping cart? $100.
