Went home during lunch yesterday to watch the baby during M's meeting. I had planned to heat up the rest of the soup for us and make a couple of sandwiches, but all that was derailed when I picked up the baby and discovered she was absolutely soaked in pee. -_- I had to spend the entire short 30 minutes I was home cleaning her up and changing her clothes, washing her play mat, washing the floor of the playpen, washing the floor under the playpen, and then changing my own clothes. As soon as M's meeting was over I had to rush back out the door to make it back to work, so no lunch for either of us.
Cleanup resumed once I was home from work. The playmat had been in the bathtub, soaking in the urine destroyer, so I thoroughly washed and rinsed it and hung it up to try. I made myself a frozen pizza and made dinner for the baby. Once I was finished eating I attacked the clean laundry and folded everything. Then the baby had a much needed bath, before we finally ended the evening on the couch together.
M was in a bad mood all day long, the pee incident seemed to have really thrown him out of whack. The baby had been difficult all day, probably because she was picking up on his bad mood, and he was frustrated and sour, so he went for a drive to get a break. Which is fine by me, because that meant I didn't have to have a black cloud hanging around the house while I was trying to get stuff done. He came home just before I put her to bed and he hung out with us a bit. While he was at dinner he'd seen a parent being very harsh with their kid, and it made him feel bad that he'd been so frustrated with the baby, so he gave her lots of cuddle time. Once the baby was down I went and showered and we both went to bed.
So, obviously no sewing done, which puts me a little behind but not terribly so. I am afraid, though, that M is not going to take the baby on their Sunday outing, which means limited available sewing time instead of the marathon I was hoping for.
Drove through the spider neighborhood on my way home from work and there were Halloween shenanigans aplenty, even at the fairly early hour of 5pm. It seems that a lot of people had waited until the day-of to actually put up decorations, as there were many more houses dressed up for the holiday than in the morning. One had what looked to be a circuit of carnival games set up for people to play, and another had an enormous bouncy castle that looked like a jungle mountain. Fancy! There were plenty of trick-or-treaters out already, too, which was fun to see. It was all gone by this morning, though most of the spiders were still in place. I suspect they'll all be down by Monday latest.
Weekend goal is to finish the ruffle monster skirt and get the bodice mocked up and perhaps even cut out. I'm making a big pot of chili tonight, which will last us through the weekend and free up some sewing time. Plus, it's time change, which means the baby will be going to bed an hour later, and I'll have that time to sew as well, hopefully anyway. Fingers crossed.
