M's lunch meeting yesterday ended up being postponed just as I arrived home. Ah, well. I heated up a batch of taquitos for lunch and we all ate together, then the baby went down for a nap and M and I both went back to work.

Had some lovely storms throughout the day, and did my after-work grocery pickup in the rain. Got home and started putting away clean dishes, only to shatter our cornbread plate. Womp womp. Swept up the glass, then vacuumed everything, and since the machine was already out I went ahead and vacuumed the living room and hall.

Hamburgers for dinner. The baby fell asleep on my lap not long after, and once she was in bed I managed to get the last tier of the skirt reattached, sans gathering this time, and it looks much better! I am very pleased with it. Now I need to close up the back seam, which is not going to be as quick as it sounds since I have to deal with each ruffle and tier individually. It will probably take a couple of evenings to get that done. Then it's waistband and placket, and the skirt will be done. I only have 4 1/2 weeks until Dickens, and I am feeling very crunched. The Kent State dress is looking less and less likely.

Anyway, once sewing was done, I collapsed into bed, but despite my exhaustion I woke up around 5:30 feeling completely rested. Decided to make hay while the sun was shining, and put away the clean dishes, made a lunch plate for the baby, changed and fed her, fed and watered the cats, and cleaned the few dishes that M had used during the night.

I opened the door to leave for work, and discovered the purple taffeta waiting for me on the doorstep. The color is perfect, so I am extremely pleased. Decided to check the mailbox on the way to the car, and found that the black/gold chiffon had also arrived, and it's gorgeous. I really wish I had more of it!

Zuppa Toscana for dinner tonight. I wish I'd had enough time this morning to chop everything beforehand, but I just ran out of time. The soup will last us a couple of days, and then M offered to make spaghetti, which will take us through the weekend, so I won't have to cook!
