Went home for lunch yesterday to find that the baby had already been fed and put down for a nap, so in my brief time there I knocked out a couple of chores, cleaning the cat boxes, putting away the clean dishes, and cleaning some dirty ones for 20 minutes before I had to head back to work. It wasn't much, but it made me feel accomplished.

I'm going to very seriously need a new dress form soon. My current papertape form is starting to crumple in the bust, making fitting difficult, and during the Navasota weekend I noticed that my skirt from Dickens, which was very snug when I made it, was a good 1-2 inches too big. Which, hooray, weight loss! But also, boo, nothing fits right. It will probably have to wait until after the Red Tea, because that dress is a priority, but it does need to happen soon.

Did a little paper test of double stacked box pleats to see if it's feasible to use them on the red gown, and great googly moogly do they eat up fabric. Normal knife pleats I usually calculate at 3-to-1, but the stacked boxes will take 5-to-1! For a single completed box pleat, that's 10 inches! That's so, so much fabric, I don't think it's doable when I only have 10 yards for the entire skirt. (Though, the Etsy store I bought it from has restocked, so I could get more if I needed it.)

Anyway, came home after work and finished up the sides and gravy for the roast. Baby went to bed around 7, M was finished working around 9, and once the transfer from her pack-n-play to her crib was complete, I headed to bed myself, as I'd only had about four or five hours of sleep.

I though the early night would set me right, but the universe had other ideas. At around 5, Tibby started warbling in the hallway. I thought it was just one of his bouts of loneliness, but when I got up to check on him I heard it storming outside. He's terrified of weather, so I opened the bathroom door so he could hide in there, but he darted into the bedroom instead to hide in the closet.

I knew before bed that we were under a tornado watch, so I checked again and it had been upgraded to a tornado warning. A second later, the sirens went off, and there was a tornado supposedly in Crowley, which is just to the south of us. No official confirmations of it this morning, though. We rode out the storm, and had no damage this morning, and there were only a couple of tree limbs down on the drive in to work. Seems like Spring really wanted to get to an exciting start this year.

I had briefly considered just getting up and starting my day after the hubbub died down, but I laid back down instead and tried to get a bit of sleep. I woke up about 10 minutes before my alarm went off.

Leftover roast tonight. I'll make some roasted sweet potatoes and mac 'n cheese to go with it, and it will be a fine meal.
