Uuuugh, I just can't get into the mood to sew on my current projects. I think part of it is the complete dearth of costume events we've had in the area for the past few months. The last well-attended event was...May? Yeah, May. And all I managed to do for that one was whip up a last minute horror show of a dress that was reeeeally unexciting. Maybe I'm getting bored of doing historical stuff? I don't know. I saw some really awesome Victorian stuff while browsing earlier, and I got excited again for about 20 minutes, and then I realized that there were no Victorian events coming up, so I petered out again. I was excited about the 18thC stuff when I first started planning it, but there's so little time left before the event to actually get shit done that now I've moved to the "whatever, I'll just wear something I have" phase. Even M has stuff he can rewear, so I'm not super pressed to make him anything, either. Ugh. WTF, Megan, get it together! (Maybe I'd be more invested if I at least knew people were going to show up, but for the last few months, almost no one I know is bothering to show up to stuff, which makes it extra hard to get motivated.)

I'm trying to reinvigorate myself by planning something for the Edwardian event in October. The house we'll be touring was built in 1899, which means I can push it a little and wear something 1895, so I get to have big sleeves! Maybe something in a pumpkin color because of October? I actually really like this dress:

But that may be waaaay too hot for October. And, it's a little boring, really. Pretty, but boring. I'll just have to do some more digging to find something that excites me and is still doable in time. Aaaugh, why can't I get excited about sewing?!

Omg that dress isn't boring! The fun contrasts on the bodice, mmmm! Okay, it's not exciting. But it's fun looking - the high contrast helps with that - and you could maybe play around with the skirt a little to add some more contrasty bits? If you don't make it I'll have to add it to my 'make someday' list. ;)

Okay, maybe boring wasn't the right word, because it is a pretty awesome dress. I guess I'm just looking for something a bit more flashy! XP I'll probably still make this one someday, but it would have to be for something in December or January since that's the only time it's cold enough to wear velvet in Texas. lol
