Aug. 22nd, 2023 08:47 amPicked up groceries on the way home, then stopped at Sprouts for some fresh fruit. Peaches were in but hard as a rock, so they're sitting out to ripen a bit. Apple choices were slim, but they did have my favorite Pink Ladies, though most of them were bruised. Pluots are apparently in season because they were everywhere and in multiple varieties, so I picked up a carton of those, as well as some blueberries and strawberries. So, fruit!
Swung by Joann's on the way home and picked up the wrapper pattern and yikes when did paper patterns start costing $22?!
Didn't make it to the storage unit to rummage for fabric, so I'll try for that in the next couple of days. I didn't see anything particularly interesting at Joann's, so if the storage unit is a bust, then online shopping it is.
Had lovely dreams last night about attending a Christmas market. I think my brain is actively rejecting the continuing triple digits and instead looking forward to the cooler months. Unfortunately we won't actually be cold until January. And both Farmer's Almanac and NOAA have said that we're going to have a warm Fall, so FML. I'll just crank up the AC and drink apple cider.
There was a brief power outage right as I woke up this morning, with everything turning on and off twice. M checked with the upstairs neighbors and it happened to them, too, and when I drove to work the traffic lights were out, so it wasn't just us. It's either Ercot being assholes, or someone ran over a transformer or something.
The organizer for the La Boheme outing went at lightning speed and got everyone together in a chat to purchase tickets yesterday. So, ticket acquired! I feel like she's a little panicked over tickets selling quickly and is moving too fast, because between when she first posted and when the tickets were purchased was under 2 days, and I feel like some people may not have seen the info on it yet or had time to make a decision. I texted Liz to see if she wanted to go, but she said April is too far out to commit to anything yet, so she probably can't go with the group at this point if she decides to go. So yeah, it will be a smaller group for this event, but that's okay.
Had a brainwave about the Ivy Leaf dress's lace! Since I'm going to be adding little beaded spiders and spider webs to the design, I think I'm going to buy some spider web lace and stitch on some scalloped lace to the bottom edge to finish it. With the lace gathered up it won't obviously be spider webs so it won't look too Halloween-y, but I think it will be a fun way to tie in the lace with the embroidery.
